Devotion

This series is an inquiry to the faith and religion that the older generations in society have and the importance of religion in their daily lives. Whilst using themes of religious iconography, prayer, prayer aids and peaceful reflection to show this importance, these images touch on the change that the lockdowns of COVID-19 caused in the religious lives of these individuals. Private devotion in a domestic setting was no longer a choice because the church had to close it’s doors to the community and stream services on- line, inflicting isolating changes to routines and practice. This work recognises the difficulties faced by religious people but also celebrates the devotion that they have to their faith, a part of great significance in their lives.
